Why is Clinique so expensive when its not organic and still uses artificial chemicals?

I know Organic names are more expensive because they dont use artificial chemicals.

But Clinique is not organic- and yet it is still very expensive.

Why? I mean this applies to Lancome, Chanel, etc, as well. They're not organic but still very expensive.|||Yeah I used Clinique fade spot stuff daily, I used them all up... and it didn't work at all.

They are ripping us off.

Go to the doctor to get some fading cream, their stuff really work and cheap.|||Clinique (owned by Est茅e Lauder), Clarins (owned outright), Lancome (owned by L'Oreal) - they spend an absolute fortune on research, development, marketing and brand identity. These companies have their statuses because they have been around for long amounts of time and have deep relations with make-up artists, modelling agencies and professionals.

A contributor above mentioned that a certain product doesn't work for them... in most cases, these products DO work for the average consumer as that's why they're on the shelf in the first place - these companies do not have time to throw their identities onto some sub-standard product, the product has to be right the first time and every time. If you were to look into the research and development side of these companies you'll find that they spend years and vast quantities of money ensuring that products do what they should do and have a need in the market.|||They're expensive because of where they're sold at. The ingredients in those brands aren't much different than a brand you would find at a drug store, and I guarantee you if it were the other way around and you could find Clinique or one of those other brands at a drug store and Cover Girl at the mall, Cover Girl would cost you an arm and a leg while Clinique would only cost you $5 a compact.|||Well because they work really good and it lasts . You only need a dab of liquid compact for it to work really well. I love clinque!!!(-: and i believe they are making organic clinque sometime soon.|||How does this question belong in the dining out section?
